The “SCANNER” automated gaging installation for ultrasonic examination with automatic registration and interpretation of results (model No 5.03) is intended for continuous control of the pipe body, with indication of wall thickness sections exceeding positive and negative tolerances, and detection of delamination and longitudinal and transverse defects in the base metal of seamless steel pipes ? 50–426 mm and wall thickness 3.0–40.0 mm during the pipe manufacturing process. Ultrasonic oscillations are introduced by immersion, and drinking water is used as the contact fluid. The length of uncontrolled ends does not exceed 200 mm. The installation complies with the requirements of ASTM E 213, ASTM A 106, SEP 1915, GOST 17410, ISO 10124, ISO 3183-3, ISO 10543, GOST 12503 for the ultrasonic examination of pipes and semi-finished couplings manufactured according to API 5L, API 5D, API 5 CT, GOST 632, GOST 633, GOST 550, GOST 8731. The installation operates under workshop conditions.
