The installation is intended for flaw detection in rods, shafts and other rotating bodies. The installation is based on a “SCANNER” 8-channel ultrasonic flaw detector mounted on the carriage of a lathe. A multi-element acoustic unit with aperture contact, mounted in a tool holder, allows examination for integrity according to the requirements of standard OST 108.95803-96. The diameter of the rods and shafts to be examined is Ø30–150mm. Scanning speed is up to 1.2 m/min. The installation includes a coordinate system. The results are shown on the flaw detector display and can be stored in the memory and subsequently printed.
